Antony Set To Become Man United’s First Summer Signing With A £40m Deal Imminent

According to reports, Manchester United has upped its chase of Antony, and the Brazilian winger would reconnect with his former Ajax coach, Erik ten Hag, at Old Trafford.

The pursuit of Antony by Erik ten Hag might enable the Ajax winger to fulfill a promise made to him after he left for Old Trafford.

As they continue their quest for their first summer signing, Manchester United are aiming to snag highly regarded Ajax winger Antony.

The 22-year-old Brazilian is reportedly on manager Erik ten Hag’s radar this summer because the Dutchman wants to improve his attacking options, according to the Manchester Evening News.

United are in desperate need of a new right-sided winger, and they have identified Antony as the player who can solve their right-wing problems.

According to reports, United representatives have traveled to Amsterdam to expedite a £40 million deal for Antony.

The 22-year-old winger will be Old Trafford’s first acquisition of the Ten Hag era if the transfer is finalized.

Last season, Antony attracted the attention of numerous top European clubs by making 33 appearances and producing 12 goals and 8 assists across all competitions.

The Brazilian had a good working relationship with his boss and was a crucial component of Ajax’s Eredivisie championship victory.

With a five-year deal and an initial £13 million payment, Ten Hag helped Antony improve his game and brought him to the club from Sao Paulo in February 2020.

At the conclusion of the 2021–2022 season, Antony was upset to see his manager leaving for United and posted a video message to him.

He said, “I want to wish you the best of luck at your new club. I also want to express my gratitude for what you have taught me.

I am appreciative of all the opportunities and daily learning. Please know that I am here for you whenever you need me.”

With Ten Hag eager to make Antony United’s first signing of the summer, the last line’s allusion now appears to be coming true.

It has long been rumored, and it excites United supporters, that Antony would follow his manager to the Premier League.

Antony will strengthen a position that has become somewhat of a problem for the team in recent years.

He has provided 22 goals and 20 assists in 78 games for Ajax overall. For a while now, United supporters have been concerned about the right wing.

Jadon Sancho’s £73 million acquisition last summer has not yet paid off under Ralf Rangnick.

Players like Anthony Elanga, Marcus Rashford, and Mason Greenwood frequently slot in outside of their natural positions.

In addition to having exceptional ball control, Antony is gifted with lightning-quick speed, a left foot like a wizard, and silky talents.

And what makes him such a delight to watch are his abilities and his swift, dancing feet.

The Brazilian has previously dismissed allegations that he sometimes goes too far with his cunning play by emphasizing that he intends to prove to his opponent who the “boss” is.

You can practically guarantee that he would be a hit with the fans at United if he successfully completes a transfer there.

Anthony, in Ten Hag’s opinion, is the solution to the issue. Given the force of his earlier remarks, it is not surprising that he is interested in the Brazilian.

The 52-year-old was questioned about transfer rumors surrounding his star player earlier this year, when he was still in the hot seat at Ajax.

Ten Hag told De Telegraaf that losing Antony would be a blow for Ajax. “In the present squad, there is no one who can fill his position. He is first-rate.”

Later on in the campaign, Ten Hag praised the dynamic forward even more.

“Without Antony, the right side of the field is a little less speedy and energetic, which also makes it harder for the team. Then the areas get considerably smaller.”
