Jude Bellingham, a standout player for Borussia Dortmund who has been a long-time transfer target for Liverpool, has received public appreciation from Bayern Munich manager Julian Nagelsmann.
After finishing fourth in the Kopa Trophy at the Ballon d’Or honors on Monday, Jude Bellingham has been linked more to a move away from Borussia Dortmund.
Nagelsmann said that Jamal Musiala of his own club and Bellingham, a rival in the Bundesliga, were more deserved recipients of the Kopa Trophy, which is given annually to the greatest player under the age of 21, than Gavi, who won the prize.
Jurgen Klopp is rumored to be a great fan, and Liverpool has previously been linked with an interest in Bellingham.
Meanwhile, the Englishman, reportedly valued at £83 million, is also reportedly admired by Manchester City and Manchester United.
Real Madrid, on the other hand, has emerged as the favorite to sign him in the coming summer.
Nagelsmann made a point praising an opponent and asserting that, along with his own young star, he was playing at the pinnacle of his game at that age level and his words seem to have a lot of weight.
The Bayern manager was reported by Marca as saying: “Of course, one is seeing through the club’s lenses, but generally speaking, I have my own viewpoint. That vote does not have my support.
From my perspective, Jamal (Musiala) and Jude Bellingham, in my opinion, had a better season than the victor. They both have Gavi behind them in my eyes.”
In the awards, Musiala did place on the podium, taking third place behind winner Gavi and Eduardo Camavinga, who placed second and recently joined Real Madrid from Rennes.
In the shortlist of ten players, Bellingham came in fourth, ahead of Nuno Mendes of Paris Saint-Germain.
Meanwhile, in regards to Gavi, who has excelled for Barca and Spain since making his senior debut a year ago, Nagelsmann did add: “He has a lot of talent and is a fantastic football player.
The honor was well-deserved. For his age, he has an incredible winning mentality.”
With Dortmund open to selling the star this summer, a year after Erling Haaland departed the club for Manchester City, the competition for Bellingham’s services is heating up.
A summer departure from Dortmund now seems more plausible. The midfielder’s position is still being followed by a number of the top clubs on the continent amid his outstanding performances for both club and country.
