Cristiano Ronaldo sends Alex Ferguson a message following touching Man United reunion

After reaching his most recent professional milestone and receiving an accolade from Sir Alex Ferguson, striker Cristiano Ronaldo sent a message to his former Manchester United manager.

The Manchester United player, who had expressed interest in leaving the team in the summer, has spent the majority of the season on the bench but was brought in early in his team’s 2-1 victory over Everton eight days prior.

Ronaldo scored the goal that would ultimately give his team the victory, marking the 700th club goal of his career in the process.

He became the first player in history to accomplish the feat and his achievement was recognized on Sunday, before the match against Newcastle United.

He received the honor from Ferguson, who brought him to Manchester in the first place. Captioning “Always good to be with you boss!” in two social media posts featuring the Scot and the Portuguese superstar.

The pair were photographed holding the prize in one picture and hugging in the other.

Ronaldo was a raw adolescent when Ferguson signed him in 2003, but by the time he departed for Real Madrid in 2009, having won the Ballon d’Or in 2008, he had developed into one of the best players in the world.

Last summer, Ferguson helped bring Ronaldo back to Old Trafford. As the forward neared an exit from Juventus, rumors were that Manchester City were interested.

However, the forward ended up returning to red, writing on Instagram, “Sir Alex, this one is for you.”

Ronaldo has frequently referred to Ferguson as his footballing father and praised the way in which the Englishman nurtured him during his early years.

While the two of them shared three Premier League championships and the Champions League, Ronaldo’s legacy comes from his off-the-field antics.

“He had previously recounted so many wonderful times we had shared. I do not simply win, but I hold the most difficult things close to my heart.

He probably doesn’t recall it, but I’ll still mention it because it’s a lovely tale. My father was in the hospital one day, and I was in a pretty bad emotional place.

And when I chatted with him, he advised me to visit for two to three days. I was an important player in that situation, and we had challenging games coming up. For me, these are the things that are essential.”

He said: “It will be challenging because we have tough games, but I understand your position and I’ll leave you out so you can go and visit your father.”
