Despite a disastrous start to the current Premier League season, Cristiano Ronaldo has given fans a message that inspires hope that the situation is improving.
Cristiano Ronaldo’s most recent Instagram post has given fans hope that he is finally adjusting to the new way of life at Manchester United under Erik ten Hag.
The 37-year-old forward was open about wanting to leave Old Trafford over the summer, but few Champions League teams showed any interest in luring him away from Manchester.
Ronaldo was consequently made to fall on his sword and remain in place for the time being.
Although Ronaldo has been a part of United’s Premier League games so far this season, things haven’t gone well. Only once has he played the entire 90 minutes.
The devastating 4-0 loss away at Brentford, one of the worst performances in Red Devils history, only served to make the situation worse.
Since then, during the course of the four league games that have taken place, the former Real Madrid player has logged a total of 80 minutes of playing time.
Although it was in a defeat, this time at the hands of Spanish team Real Sociedad on matchday one of the Europa League group stage, he did get another 90 minutes in last week.
It is obvious that Ten Hag has concerns about putting Ronaldo into a system that the new manager is only now beginning to understand.
Given that Marcus Rashford scored twice against Arsenal in the team’s last league match, the England international is currently preferred as United’s starting central attacker.
Ronaldo is very upbeat despite this. He posted a photo of himself working out with Casemiro and Diogo Dalot on social media with the message, “Starting the week with a nice mood.”
The five-time Ballon d’Or winner missed the summer tours of Thailand and Australia due to family obligations, but he now appears to be slowly but surely getting back up to speed.
It has been previously stated that some United players believed that Ronaldo’s poor performance this year was caused by the fact that he missed the preseason tour.
The forward missed a period that was essential for Ten Hag’s attempt to put his ideology into practice.
The Sun quoted a source as saying: “All the players are disappointed that Ronaldo missed pre-season after he returned to United last season.
The manager put a lot of effort into providing the group with specific instructions on what to do and how to play.”
Ronaldo is relying on instinct when he plays since he is not aware of that. But in Ten Hag’s philosophy, that is invalid.
United’s scheduled match against Leeds at home was postponed due to a lack of police officers in advance of the Queen’s funeral on Monday, September 19. Therefore, the team isn’t in play this weekend.
