Darwin Nunez makes strong Mohamed Salah claim in relation to the surging Lionel Messi and Ronaldo Debate

Darwin Nunez playfully chimed in on the argument surrounding Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi, saying that Mohamed Salah, a colleague at Liverpool, is superior to both players.

The Liverpool striker weighed in on the Lionel Messi vs. Cristiano Ronaldo comparison and provided a response that his colleagues and Reds supporters will adore.

They have essentially shared the world stage for the past 20 years, so the debate over who is the greatest football player has been going on for a while.

The fact that the Argentine finally won the World Cup with his country in the most recent competition in Qatar seemed to give him an advantage this year.

Even still, the discussion seems to have been unsatisfying, as it is still going on. Nunez, a forward for the Reds, is the most recent to express his opinions.

The Uruguayan striker gave himself a brief chuckle before responding, “Salah,” when a Twitter user asked him which player he believed was better, Messi or Ronaldo.

It’s interesting to note that despite being right next to the striker when the remark was made, the Egyptian winger did not seem to pay attention to the enormous compliment given to him.

Salah’s eye-watering Reds record makes it unlikely that the 30-year-old and Liverpool supporters will disagree with Nunez.

Despite the team’s problems in the first half of the season, the Egyptian has 172 goals in 277 appearances since signing from AS Roma in 2017.

16 of those goals have come this season. When the Reds play Leicester at Anfield today, he will undoubtedly be looking to improve upon that record.

In nine career games versus the Foxes, Salah has four goals. Although the Egyptian still has a ways to go before he can surpass Messi and Ronaldo’s accomplishments, it has been suggested in the past that he is the Argentine superstar of the Premier League.

Following a victory over Manchester City in 2021, former Tottenham player Jamie O’Hara declared that he was “the closest thing to Lionel Messi”.

In an interview with talkSPORT, he declared: “If you’re looking at a player who is playing at the height of his abilities, he’s the best player in the world, in my opinion.

I cannot compare anyone to Mo Salah and argue that they are performing better. He not only does it in the Premier League, the top league in the world, but he also does it in significant matches.

He is, in my opinion, the most similar player to Lionel Messi that we have seen who is not Lionel Messi. If you’re searching for a player who has come close to being as good as Messi since his prime, Mo Salah would be my recommendation.”
