Donny Van De Beek Offers Himself Up For An A.S. Roma Move Despite Man Utd Opportunities

Despite reconnecting with Erik ten Hag at Manchester United after several years of limited opportunities at Old Trafford and an Everton loan, Donny van de Beek is reported to have offered himself to Roma.

United transferred the former Ajax star on loan to Everton to offer him a fresh start.

There was a lot of anticipation, but he didn’t receive nearly enough playing time at Old Trafford, so he went on loan to Everton in January.

Despite this, the addition of Erik ten Hag to United’s bench raises the prospect of Van de Beek’s comeback.

Donny van de Beek, despite a possible return to Manchester United’s first squad, has offered himself to Roma, much to everyone’s astonishment, according to sources.

After leaving Ajax in 2020, the Dutchman has struggled for minutes and opportunities at Old Trafford.

Van de Beek established a reputation for himself in Amsterdam during Erik ten Hag’s masterminding of his previous club’s march to the Champions League’s final four in 2019.

After two years apart, Van van Beek and his old manager might reconcile in Manchester.

This has rekindled hope that the multi-talented celebrity will be given further opportunities.

However, according to Corriere della Sera, Van de Beek is ready to leave the club and join Roma.

Given the positive vibes between the player and his new management, that is quite surprising. Ten Hag has already spoken about the possibility of collaborating with Van de Beek.

He stated: “At Ajax, we had a terrific squad at the time. I had a great working connection with him. Of course, I’m looking forward to seeing him on the field again.”

Ten Hag has made it a goal to rebuild United’s midfield this summer, and he wants Frenkie de Jong, another former Ajax player, to play a crucial role in that process.

Both Frenkie De Jong and van de Beek were instrumental in Ajax’s incredible Champions League run in 2019, which saw them reach the semi-finals. Van van Beek might be joined by Frenkie De Jong if he stays at United.

De Jong is now with Barcelona, but the club might sell him in the near future, giving him the opportunity to expand his choices.

Last season, the Dutchman’s dissatisfaction was palpable as he was regularly disregarded by Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

Despite being denied a summer exit in exchange for increased playing time, Van de Beek failed to start in the league.

He eventually joined Frank Lampard at Everton and was loaned out to Goodison Park.

Roma are close to completing the transfer of Manchester United’s Nemanja Matic.

However, based on the current situation, van de Beek may decide to stay at Manchester United for the time being and try to resurrect his career under the guidance of Ten Hag.

Xavi, Barcelona’s manager, has previously admitted that if the club’s finances need to be balanced, he may go.

He stated, “Frenkie is a wonderful player, in my opinion, a beast-I like him and believe he can help the club enter a new era.

We’ll have to wait and see what the club’s financial condition is… but I like De Jong.”

United will also be looking for defensive and offensive reinforcements as part of a massive squad revamp.

As he considers a deal for centre-back Jurrien Timber, Ten Hag might turn to Ajax.

Darwin Nunez of Benfica is being scouted as a fresh attacking option, although he is also on Liverpool’s radar.

After their contracts expired, Edinson Cavani, Paul Pogba, Juan Mata, and Nemanja Matic all left Old Trafford.

More may be on the way as players like Dean Henderson, Eric Bailly, and Phil Jones weigh their options.
