As they get ready for their debut Premier League campaign under new manager Erik ten Hag, the majority of the Manchester United players have returned to preseason practice.
Manchester United are in the second week of pre-tour preparations at Carrington before departing this week for Asia.
During one of his first practices in charge, Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag was seen correcting his players’ errors.
Tyrell Malacia, who became United’s first summer acquisition, was signed on Tuesday.
Christian Eriksen and Frenkie de Jong are expected to join the team in the ensuing days and weeks, while an offer has also been made for Ajax defender Lisandro Martinez.
The new manager, who joined United after winning the Eredivisie with Ajax, was appointed in April.
Before the team’s next preseason friendlies, the Dutchman had a chance to observe the team, and he wasted little time in informing the players what they were doing incorrectly.
Last season, United came in sixth place, far short of making the Champions League.
Tyrell Malacia, whom Ten Hag acquired from Feyenoord, was his first acquisition.
Upcoming training sessions will provide current squad players a chance to impress the boss with their abilities.
In a practice clip posted by MUTV and disseminated on social media, United players are engaged in drills requiring them to pass to a particular foot of the recipient player.
Ten Hag intervenes, though, as many players are observed passing to Anthony Elanga’s left foot rather than his right.
The United coaches had made an effort to fix the errors, with Steve McClaren being particularly outspoken.
But after the third time, Ten Hag can be heard exclaiming, “Hey, we are making too many mistakes!”
Ten Hag will try to correct the problems as soon as possible because there is less than a week until the first match of the preseason tour.
On July 12, United will play Liverpool in Thailand. Additional matches will follow in Australia, Norway, and England.
Many members of the team from the previous season were present during the practice.
In an effort to impress Ten Hag, players like Luke Shaw, Scott McTominay, and Marcus Rashford were participating in the workouts, in addition to Elanga.
Due to the acquisition of Malacia, a Dutch international, Shaw is already aware that he will have competition for a starting position at left-back.
As the management presses for a reunion with the former Ajax star, a sum has been agreed upon for Malacia’s international teammate Frenkie de Jong.
Ten Hag will have one more week of practice before the team departs for Bangkok, the first stop on their preseason tour, to have a few more days to evaluate his players.
Prior to the new season, Cristiano Ronaldo may have been the most controversial topic.
The Portuguese star, who was United’s leading scorer at the end of the 2021–22 season, has been missing from practice due to family obligations as rumors about a summer transfer become louder.
Ronaldo has stated that he wants to leave the team in order to acquire additional trophies for his trophy case.
The 37-year-old’s most recent Champions League victory came in 2018, when he was still playing for Real Madrid, and he has failed to win a league championship in either of the previous two seasons.
