Erling Haaland Gives Details On Man City Choice Following City’s Official Signing Declaration

Following the official confirmation of his summer move from Borussia Dortmund, Erling Haaland explained that he “feels at home” at Manchester City.

The 21-year-old will join the club on 1 July after agreeing to a five-year contract that would keep him at the Etihad Stadium until 2027.

City has met the striker’s release clause and expects to pay £85.5 million in total, including agency fees, signing bonus, and other expenses.

In two and a half seasons with the Black and Yellows, the Norwegian international scored 86 goals in 89 appearances, earning the German Cup and the Bundesliga Player of the Season title in 2020/21.

The prolific forward, who was born in Leeds, will follow in his father Alf’s footsteps by playing for City.

At the conclusion of his career, the former defender made 47 appearances for the club and was a member of the group that achieved promotion to the Premier League in 2001-02.

In his first interview as a City player, Haaland noted, “He [Alf-Inge] lived in England; he played for the club.

Of course, a lot has happened in the previous 20 years, but he grew up here and understands what it’s like.

We’ve just been talking about how things are, what’s best for me, what’s this, what’s that, and trying to figure everything out. In that situation, he’s been a great father.”

Several teams, including Barcelona, Real Madrid, and Manchester United, were said to be interested in signing Haaland before he joined Pep Guardiola’s side.

Despite this, he opted to play for Manchester City. “I was born in England, and I’ve been a City fan my whole life.” Haaland remarked.

“I’m well-versed in the club’s operations. In the end, I believe there are two things: I feel somewhat at ease here. I also believe that at City, I can improve and maximize my abilities.”

Haaland also expressed his delight at the prospect of playing at the Etihad.

He said, “I’ve been there a number of times previously. I like it; it’s lovely, and the color appeals to me.

I’ve played there before, at a large, gigantic stadium, and I’m excited to play there again [with City].”

Being City’s center-forward should be the most straight forward position in the game.

This season, this is the Premier League team with the most possession, touches within the box, and goals. Simply stand in front of the hoop and shoot the ball.

It is not, however, as simple as that. So much so that none of the club’s current senior players appear interested in taking on the role.

Gabriel Jesus desires to be out in the open, where he will be able to find space. Jack Grealish has put on his least convincing performance in the center.

Despite the fact that Phil Foden and Raheem Sterling have improved their performances, they still look to be happy out wide, as seen by Guardiola’s choice to play Bernardo Silva there.

Despite the fact that it was inconvenient for the Portuguese, he went ahead and did it.

Haaland is expected to guide City to the coveted Champions League championship.

They’ve never won Europe’s biggest prize, losing 1-0 to Premier League rivals Chelsea in the final in May 2021 thanks to a Kai Havertz winner.

Haaland is a big fan of the event, and his ringtone is the tournament’s anthem. “I typically enjoyed the Champions League, so that’s a bit why.

I think it’s a bit more distinctive, and I like it… [it’s still my ringtone]” he explained.

City’s director of football, Txiki Begiristain, is overjoyed to welcome Haaland to the Etihad.

“We’ve been keeping an eye on Erling for a long time and are delighted to have him join Manchester City.” Begiristain said.

“He’s a tremendous talent who has just established himself as one of Europe’s best scorers.

His goal-scoring record is impressive, and his performances at Borussia Dortmund, notably in the Champions League, have demonstrated that he is capable of competing at the highest level.”

“Erling has all of the traits we look for in a striker, and we are certain that he will fit in well with our team and system. He is still only 21 years old, despite his remarkable rise.

His best years are still to come, and we are confident that collaborating with Pep will aid him in achieving even greater success.

This is a fantastic addition to our team, and I am convinced that our fans will be pleased to see Erling in action.”
