Joao Felix on Man United’s radar amidst possible Cristiano Ronaldo exit

Atletico Madrid forward Joao Felix has been linked to Manchester United amid rumors that Cristiano Ronaldo may be moving the other way.

Cristiano Ronaldo is still set on leaving Manchester United in January, and a swap deal is now feasible thanks to Atletico Madrid striker Joao Felix’s demands for a transfer.

Felix, who has lost favor with manager Diego Simeone, wants to leave the Spanish capital club as soon as possible, ideally in the January transfer window.

He has only played for 90 minutes once this season and is no longer regarded as a crucial member of Los Rojiblancos.

Moving either player on in the middle of the season is complicated, but the likelihood is growing because both teams are open to some sort of swap agreement and each player is looking for new opportunities.

Since his high-profile return to United from Juventus last year did not go as planned, Ronaldo, 37, has been determined to leave the club.

Despite scoring 24 goals in all competitions the previous season, United’s overall performance plummeted, and they came in sixth place in the Premier League by a considerable margin.

After Manchester United’s lopsided two-goal victory over Tottenham, Ronaldo stormed down the tunnel at Old Trafford after the star player was dropped for this weekend’s trip to Chelsea by manager Erik ten Hag.

His departure from Old Trafford is now expected to happen next year, possibly as early as the January transfer window.

Felix, the club’s record acquisition, is now more likely to leave Atleti than ever, with Diario AS reporting Manchester United, along with Bayern Munich and Paris Saint-Germain, are Felix’s three potential exit destinations.

Despite their supporters’ protests this summer against the potential deal, Atletico Madrid turned out to be a surprising and plausible destination for the strikers.

It was thought that Simeone would be thrilled if the club could sign a player he had long admired.

It would be comparable to the club’s acquisition of Luis Suarez, who came from Barcelona in 2020 and led Simeone’s team to the league title in his first season.

Simeone recently rejected recommendations that Ronaldo be signed, but did so based on the player’s history with Real Madrid.

Despite this, the club has lately signed players who formerly played for city rivals, like Marcos Llorente and Sergio Reguilon.

It is believed that, despite his public statements, Simeone would be willing to ignore the club’s supporters and sign Ronaldo if the opportunity arose.

After a reported falling out with Simeone, forward Felix, who has been linked with a potential future move to Old Trafford, joined Atleti in a £113 million transfer from Benfica in 2019.

Felix could leave Atleti as soon as feasible. According to reports from Portugal, Simeone has allegedly “bullied” Felix.

Things reached a breaking point when Simeone benched Felix in one of Atleti’s most recent Champions League matches against Club Brugge.
