Jurgen Klopp Gives Roberto Firmino Injury Update Ahead Of Man United Clash

Prior to Monday’s match against rivals Man Utd, Liverpool is expected to be without a number of its players, but they are fortunate to have Roberto Firmino returned from his absence.

Roberto Firmino and Joe Gomez are reportedly in the running to play against United on Monday, according to Liverpool’s boss.

After being held to draws by both Fulham and Crystal Palace in each of their first two games, the Reds head to Old Trafford looking to secure their first victory of the campaign.

Darwin Nunez was chosen to lead the line since the Brazilian forward was left off the matchday squad for Monday’s match against Crystal Palace out of an abundance of caution.

The £64 million summer acquisition was then given a red card.

Although Liverpool rallied to draw 1-1 on the night, manager Jurgen Klopp was short on forward reinforcements from the bench as the Reds sought a winner.

The news of Nunez’s suspension for the trip to Old Trafford had Liverpool fans a little worried about the team’s lack of offensive firepower coming into the game.

Thankfully, Jurgen Klopp has reaffirmed that Liverpool can once more rely on forward, Roberto Firmino.

Firmino should participate, according to Klopp, who indicated during his news conference today that “he trained yesterday and he is ready.”

Firmino’s return gave the Reds a major boost, but their injury problems persist.

Despite accelerating their individual recoveries, Diogo Jota and Curtis Jones are still unable to play, and other players like Thiago Alcantara, Joel Matip, and Ibrahima Konate are also out.

Liverpool will be hopeful of finally beginning their season in earnest against Man Utd despite the current injury issues at Anfield.

Last season, the Reds chalked up two convincing victories over their fierce rivals, first at Old Trafford (5-0) and then on Merseyside (4-0).

By winning 4-2 in May 2021, their winning streak at Old Trafford goes even higher.

Klopp has asserted that the victories won’t have any impact on the two teams’ next match, though.

He stated: “I already understood that the last two performances at Old Trafford wouldn’t help this time. If feasible, it merely helps a little to be more motivated.

This would be very different in a different circumstance. It is difficult to prepare for because United can change anything or nothing, but it’s still early and we don’t have a lot of information.

It’s difficult, but it’s okay. Visiting United will never be simple.

The entire world will be watching, so let’s see how these power players handle the circumstance.”

After a disastrous start to the new season under Erik ten Hag, United will undoubtedly be determined to make good on their next match against Liverpool.
