Juventus set sights on Antonio Conte as they pursue a possible summer return

According to rumors in Italy, Juventus is eager to rehire Antonio Conte as manager, with the Tottenham manager stalling on signing a new contract because of the interest.

Juve have had a terrible start to the season under Max Allegri, and the Serie A powerhouse is currently eight in the league and out of the Champions League in the group stage.

Naturally, Allegri is under intense pressure to remain in command, and there is mounting speculation that he won’t be after the upcoming season.

According to Gazzetta dello Sport, Juventus are reaching out to their former manager, Conte, in an effort to gain a summer meeting with the Spurs manager.

According to Gazzetta, the Juventus board is growing impatient with Allegri and would consider hiring Conte again if they don’t manage to win a trophy and go to the Champions League.

Conte’s contract with Tottenham expires at the end of the current campaign after he joined the club in November 2021 on an 18-month deal.

Spurs want the Italian to sign a new contract to keep him with the team for longer, but it’s said that those negotiations have stalled while he waits to see what happens with the Juventus scenario.

In the past, Conte has denied rumors of a move back to Turin, saying earlier this year: “It’s disrespectful to the coach who works for Juventus and discourteous with me at Tottenham.

The season has just begun. I frequently state that I’m content and having a good time at Tottenham. I get along really well with both Daniel Levy, the chairman, and Fabio Paratici, the managing director of football.

I don’t anticipate any issues in the future. Since it is rude to other coaches first, I don’t want to hear about it.”

Prior to collecting six trophies with the team as head coach, Conte won the Champions League and five Serie A championships with Juventus as a player.

Before Maurizio Sarri was hired in 2019, director Pavel Nedved reportedly wanted Conte back, but Agnelli rejected the appointment because of the manner in which the former coach left in 2014. Reports however, asserts that the two have now patched up their connection.

Despite drawing Sporting Lisbon at home on Wednesday night, Tottenham are in first place in their Champions League group and are currently in third place in the Premier League.
