Manchester United’s stars are reportedly fed up with the attempts made by Cristiano Ronaldo to exit Old Trafford in this summer’s transfer window.
The Premier League team has had a busy summer with the hiring of Erik ten Hag as manager, new signings, and the drama surrounding Cristiano’s potential exit.
The Sun reports that several players would prefer it if he left Old Trafford than if the current unpredictability persisted.
Following his high-profile comeback from Juventus last summer after a 12-year absence, Ronaldo is determined to leave the Red Devils this summer after just one season back at Old Trafford.
For the past two months, he has been attempting to push open a door.
Although a move has not yet been made, it is rumored that the squad is becoming increasingly displeased about his stance and attitude.
The Portuguese superstar only made his first appearance under new manager Erik ten Hag when the Red Devils were held to a 1-1 draw by Rayo Vallecano in a friendly at Old Trafford a week before the season started.
Due to family issues, he did not report to the club’s preseason tour of Asia.
Ronaldo was later declared unable to start in Sunday’s Premier League opener against Brighton, but he did enter the game as a substitute in the second half, where he was unsuccessful in scoring.
Ronaldo was chatting animatedly with Ten Hag on the sidelines during his first game under the new manager against Rayo.
After being substituted at halftime, Ronaldo was later seen leaving Old Trafford early, which infuriated United manager Ten Hag, who called the behavior “unacceptable.”
Ten Hag stated plainly: “I surely don’t support this, it’s definitely unacceptable. This must change for all players. You must stick around until the end because we are a team.”
Now that Ronaldo’s antics have become more widely known, it has been explained how a growing number of United players would prefer for him to leave the team this summer.
According to a report in The Sun, the atmosphere in the dressing room has changed, which explains this.
Ronaldo’s agent, is reportedly putting a lot of pressure for the star to quit the team this month and has an undisclosed club offer on the table.
However, United are sticking to their position that the 37-year-old is not for sale, at least officially.
Because of Anthony Martial’s absence and Ronaldo’s lack of match fitness, Ten Hag was obliged to use Christian Eriksen as a “false nine” in United’s loss to Brighton.
While this has created somewhat of a standoff between the two parties, it has already had an effect on United’s season.
When questioned about United’s ambitions to strengthen their forward line in the next three weeks of the summer transfer market, Ten Hag remained tight-lipped.
Ronaldo scored 24 goals in 38 games for the club last season across all competitions, so if he leaves, United will need to find someone to replace him in front of goal.
