Marcus Rashford shares telling Man United comments following the club’s 3-0 victory over Nottingham Forest

Marcus Rashford, who shone in Tuesday night’s convincing 3-0 victory against Nottingham Forest, has made it known that he would like to stay on the left side of Manchester United’s three-pronged attack.

In Manchester United’s 3-0 victory over Nottingham Forest, Marcus Rashford once again shone, recording a goal and an assist while playing as a left-sided attacker.

The 25-year-old Rashford gave Erik ten Hag’s team the lead in the 19th minute before setting up Anthony Martial four minutes later. For United, who continued where they left off before the midseason World Cup break, Fred added a third goal in the second half.

With his goal against Forest, Rashford has now scored 10 goals in 21 appearances this season, which is double his total from the previous campaign. Ten Hag has been a key factor in helping Rashford regain his best form since moving to Old Trafford.

This season, Rashford has filled in for Cristiano Ronaldo, who has since departed the club, as the No. 9 for United. However, he excelled on the left flank against Forest, where he believes he is most comfortable.

Rashford added, “I think it depends on the competition; it depends on the personality you’re playing against,” in a post-game interview with Amazon Prime.

“I prefer to play on the left most of the time, but I want to have the ability to move around and take advantage of any weaknesses in the middle or players I believe I can exploit.

In certain positions, I feel at ease, and I want to score goals. Every person aspires to attain a certain number. For me, the goal is to score more goals than I’ve ever scored in a season, so I’d say 22, 23. I must continue to score and have an impact on the games.”

Following Ronaldo’s departure, United are expected to strengthen their attacking options in January, but it appears they won’t be able to sign long-term target Cody Gakpo, who is apparently close to joining Liverpool.

The World Cup standout for the Netherlands had previously been on the verge of joining Ten Hag at Old Trafford back in the summer and was expected to make a significant move during the winter transfer window.

Gakpo, who had already racked up 30 goal involvements in just 24 games before the midseason break, is now set to join Jurgen Klopp’s squad after they worked out a deal with PSV Eindhoven for the sought-after forward.

Following the victory over Forest, Ten Hag told Amazon Prime that United are “always on the market for new players.”

“We try our best. I avoid discussing specific instances. With so many games coming up, we are seeking a striker. We want to continue competing in each league. Thus, you require numbers.”
